The Tri-State Fire District was called at 11:03 AM on December 26, 2016 for a report of smoke coming from the house at 209 Spring Street, Willow Springs. Companies arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves of a one-story vacant single-family residence. Crews forced entry and extinguished the fire with one hose line. The interior suffered moderate fire and smoke damage. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is believed to be electrical in nature. Tri-State crews were assisted by Pleasantview FPD, Bedford Park FD, Westmont FD, Oak Brook Terrace FPD, Downers Grove FD, Romeoville FD, Riverside FD and Northwest Homer FPD.
The Tri-State Fire District was called at 5:48 PM on December 14, 2016 for a reported fire on the 3rd floor at 709 79th Street, Darien. Companies arrived to find heavy smoke throughout the 3rd floor of a four-story multi-family residence. Crews extinguished a kitchen fire in Unit # 303 with one hose line. The fire unit suffered significant fire and smoke damage. The 3rd floor suffered mild to moderate smoke damage. All occupants were able to escape without incident and there were no injuries. There is a fire alarm installed in the building and it did activate. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is believed to have started on the stove top in the kitchen. Tri-State crews were assisted by Pleasantview FPD, Westmont FD, Lemont FPD, York Center FPD, Darien-Woodridge FPD, Oak Brook Terrace FPD, LaGrange Park FD, Downers Grove FD, Romeoville FD, Robert’s Park FPD, Clarendon Hills FD, Hinsdale FD, LaGrange FD, Argonne FD, and Oak Brook FD. The District would also like to thank the many Darien Police Officers who assisted with alerting residents of the fire prior to our arrival and then assisted with the evacuation and relocation of residents
